Field trips are for Options students and their immediate family only. Please look through the information to decide if the field trip is a good fit for your family. Some require advance sign-up and pre-payment.

SIGN UP FOR COLO SCHOOL OF MINES TRIP HERE
Date: Friday, December 1, 2023 from 1:00 to 3:00.
Location: 1310 Maple Street, Golden, CO 80401
Grades: K-8.
Cost: $10 per participating child. Younger/older sibling who are not participating in activities and parents/chaperones are free. Cash or card accepted. Please pay when you arrive.
Parking: The museum is on the campus of the Colorado School of Mines. You will need to pay to park at the kiosks near the museum. There are other parking options listed here: Parking - Mines Museum of Earth Science. Please plan accordingly.
More details: Kids will be divided into groups of K-3rd grade and 4th-8th grade. One group will do a one-hour tour of the museum while the other group does a hands-on activity. Then the groups will switch.
K-3 ACTIVITY: Experience the, “Magic of Minerals!” A hands-on activity that introduces students to the weird, wacky, and wonderful properties of minerals that aren’t taught in class! Explore phenomena like chatoyancy, double refraction, color-change and more while practicing the skills of scientific observation.
4th- 8th ACTIVITY: “Spot the Fake”: Try your hand at being a museum Curator in, “Spot the Fake!” Students will inspect a set of “donated” specimens using basic tools and be charged with finding and rejecting the fakes. Tune your observation skills and walk on the skeptical side. You’ll be surprised by fake-looking natural specimens and natural-looking phonies.
National Western Stock Show General Admission SIGN UP
Date: Thursday, January 18, 2024
Time: 10:00 a.m. (and stay as long as you want). Late entry cannot be guaranteed. The field trip entrance closes as soon as our group is admitted. If you are going to be late, we can't guarantee you will be able to get in.
Cost: Free
Recommended ages: all ages (Please be aware that strollers and wagons are NOT allowed through the field trip entrance.)
Details: This is an “on your own” field trip. The stock show has so many things to do and see that it is impossible to stay together as a group. You will get a map and schedule on that day so you can plan your activities.
Location: National Western Stock Show Complex. Please enter through the field trip entrance on the east side of the complex. (More specific details will be provided as we get closer.)
Rodeo tickets are sold out. If you have a rodeo ticket reserved, you will receive more information.
Arvada Center for the Performing Arts: A Year With Frog and Toad SIGN-UP
Date: Wednesday, February 7, 2024
Time: Arrive at 11:20. Pre-performance “sneak peek” starts at 11:35. Play begins at noon and ends at 1:00 p.m.
Cost: $13 per person. Pre-payment is required. Limit 100 participants.
Recommended ages: pre-K through 5th or 6th grade. Children just need to be able to sit through an hour performance.

Ten Things I Love About Shakespeare SIGN UP
Date: Wednesday, February 28 from noon to 1:30 p.m.
Where: Parker, Colorado at The Schoolhouse (19650 E Mainstreet, Parker, CO 80138)
Cost: $15 per person
Age: Middle school and high school only
Join us at The Schoolhouse (19650 E Mainstreet, Parker, CO 80138) on Wednesday, February 28 from noon to 1:30 p.m. for a performance especially for middle and high school students. We have 30 tickets available on a first come, first served basis. Cost is $15 per person. Money will be due to the front desk by January 16.
William Shakespeare is considered the greatest playwright in the English Language. His plays have been on stage for hundreds of years. They’ve also been the basis for many movies. This play showcases scenes from Shakespeare’s plays and the movies inspired by them, including: Ten Things I Hate About You & The Taming of Shrew; Forbidden Planet & The Tempest; The Lion King & Hamlet; West Side Story & Romeo & Juliet; and Men of Respect & MacBeth.
Note to parents: You can accompany your student, or you can drop your student off. I do need at least 4 parents to stay. If you have younger kids, unfortunately, they won't be able to attend. You can drop off your student and take younger siblings shopping, exploring, etc. for 90 minutes while your middle and/or high schooler enjoys the performance.
Curriculum: Language Arts and Shakespeare, History, Film and Cinema, and Performing Arts.

Cost: $3.00 for Brighton Options students (pre-paid). Cost is $5 for parents or non-students paid at the door. Cost will include admission and skate rental. Skate trainers are extra. Small concession items will be available.

Details: This is an “on your own” field trip. The zoo has so many things to do. We will check in as a group and you can explore on your own.
Performance-- Miss Nelson is Missing! (K-5) SIGN-UP
Date: Wednesday, April 24 from noon to 1:05 p.m.
Location: PACE Center (Parker, CO)
Cost: $10 per person
Join us at the PACE Center (20000 Pikes Peak Ave., Parker, CO 80138) on Wednesday, April 24 from noon to 1:05 p.m. for a performance especially for K-5 students. (All ages are welcome, but the show is for K-5.) We have 80 tickets available on a first come, first served basis. Money will be due to the front desk by March 5.
Based on the popular children's book--Miss Nelson can’t control her crazy classroom because she’s just too nice. But when she disappears, her replacement is the hard-as-nails, detention-loving, recess-canceling, homework-overloading substitute teacher Viola Swamp! With the Big Test approaching, the kids suddenly realize how much they miss Miss Nelson and they’ll do anything — including hiring a private eye — to solve the mystery of her disappearance and bring her back.
